
Women's Basketball Signs Aussie Guard Kate Gaze

Moraga, CA – Saint Mary's women's basketball head coach Paul Thomas announced the signing of Kate Gaze, an Australian guard from New South Wales. Gaze joins fellow Aussie Louella Tomlinson on the Gael squad, and comes to Saint Mary's from the Australian Institute of Sport.
The 5'7" guard has participated actively in Australian basketball, playing in the 2007 Junior World Championships, for the NSW U-16 Metro team (2004, 2005) and the U-18 (2006) National Junior Champs, in the 2006 Oceania Youth Tournament in New Zealand, and for the Australian Junior Women's Squad "Gems."
In February the guard competed in the Australian National Under 20 competition, averaging 17.7 points and shooting 38.5 percent from the floor. Gaze also dished out 3.8 assists in the process, while pulling down 4.3 rebounds. The guard is currently a starter and team captain for her AIS squad, averaging 5.8 points and shooting 35.0 percent from the floor in the WNBL.
