No. 57 Women's Tennis Tops UCSB, 5-1

Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's women's tennis team defeated UC Santa Barbara 5-1 at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex on Friday. The match was delayed due to wet conditions, forcing the cancellation of doubles play and leaving the match up to singles competition.
The Gaels started off the afternoon with a dominating win at the one spot as freshman Catherine Isip defeated Sofia Novak 6-1, 6-1. Saint Mary's then got two wins by sophomores as Alex Poorta defeated Natalia Lozano 6-4, 7-5 and Anna Chikhikvishvili topped Asagi Onaga 6-4, 6-4. Claire Soper and Alisa Spitzer also recorded wins for the Gaels, with Tova Hausman recording the only win for UCSB as she came back to defeat Molly Aloia 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5).
The Gaels return to action on Sunday, February 14 as they host San Francisco. Matches will begin at 12 p.m. from Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.
