High School: McCarthy played four years of high school soccer, the first two at Loyola High in Los Angeles and his last two years at Santa Monica High School, where he graduated in 2011... he earned the nickname "Big Red." playing center back and forward for the Vikings, contributing six goals to their 2011 Ocean League Title and one goal during CIF playoffs, helping them advance to the third round.
Club: McCarthy played club soccer for Gold Coast Xtreme Black in Huntington Beach... playing center back, "Dylan was the anchor and one of the major reasons the team finished 7th in the Nation in 2011," according to Coach Sean Dick... the team advanced to the semifinals at the 2011 Nomads tournament and to the semifinals of the 2011 Cal South National Cup... they were finalists at 2010 Nomads... Dylan was also selected to play in the 2011 Southern California High School All-Star games.
McCarthy was a four year honor student earning him a lifetime membership in the California Scholarship Federation.
