WTEN | Gaels Duo Move on to Round of 16 in ITAs

Saint Mary's tandem of Mariia Kozyreva and Aubane Ville will play in the Round of 16 at the ITA Northwest Regionals on Sunday.
STANFORD, Calif. — Saint Mary's advanced further into the ITA Northwest Regionals on Saturday as Mariia Kozyreva and Aubane Ville won their doubles match and will play in the Round of 16 Sunday.
Kozyreva and Ville took on Husrefovic/Timotin from Fresno State and went down to the wire for an 8-7(3) victory. The duo will square off with Fung/Zupancic of Washington tomorrow.
In singles, Kozyreva matched up with conference rival Graciela Rosas of Gonzaga and came from behind for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win. In the Round of 16, she squared off with No. 13 Melissa Lord of Stanford but dropped a close three-set contest, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Saint Mary's also picked up wins in the consolation round as Liesl Pieters and Chloe Goyette won their respective single matches and Goyette/Jordan Harris defeated Rosenberg/Yao of Stanford, 8-5.
