MSOC | No. 9 Saint Mary's Enters WCC Competition This Week

The Gaels will begin their West Coast Conference schedule this weekend in Stockton.
MORAGA, Calif. — The No. 9 Gaels travel to Stockton this weekend for a match against the Pacific Tigers on Sunday, their first WCC match of the season. The match will take place at 7:00 p.m. from Knoles Field and it will be the Gaels' sole match of the weekend.
Saint Mary's continues to climb in rankings, as they are now No. 9 in the national coaches poll, and are ranked 13th according to RPI. As a team, the Gaels are third in the country in save percentage and have only allowed four goals against them all season. SMC is ranked fifth in scoring offense and have scored a total of 29 goals through 11 matches with an average of 2.6 goals per game.
Jake Rudel remains the goal-leader for the Gaels and has collected eight so far, three of which were gaming-winning. Jakub Svehlik and Rudel are tied for game-winning goals, as Svehlik notched his third game-winner in last week's match against New Mexico during the final 30-seconds of the match.
Remi Prieur maintains the top spot in the nation for most shutouts throughout the season with eight and has also collected 34 saves. Saint Mary's as a squad is ranked fifth for goals against average and have allowed only .35 goals per match.
The Gaels are one of the only two teams who remain undefeated going into their match this week; the only other undefeated squad is No. 1 Wake Forest who also have an 11-0 record.

The Tigers have a record of 6-2-2 through ten games, and the match on Sunday will be their first in conference competition. Pacific is undefeated in their last six matches (4-0-2) and haven't lost since Sept. 3 in a 1-0 decision to Marist.
Junior Jonathan Jimenez and Senior Camden Riley are tied for the most goals with four a piece, and the team as a whole has scored 16 goals through ten games.
The Gaels are 5-4-3 all time versus Pacific and over the course of the last five matches have a record of 4-0-1.
