Saint Mary's will look to secure their first win of the season after going 0-2 in last weekend's matches in southern California. Junior
Jaylen Crim has powered SMC's offense thus far, taking five of the team's eight shots and she leads the team in scoring. On the other side of the pitch, sophomore
Maleah Milner has started both games for the Gaels this season in goal and has six saves.
ABOUT VERMONT
The Catamounts head into Friday's match with a 0-0-1 record after their season opener against American resulted in a double-overtime 2-2 draw. Vermont senior Aly Spencer scored both of the Catamounts goals in that match and led her squad with six shots.
Last season, UVM went 9-9-2 (3-4-1 AEC) and finished runner-up in their conference tournament. The team returns last year's leading scorer, Brooke Jenkins, who recorded 16 points (seven goals, two assists) in 20 matches. The Catamounts averaged over 14 shots per game in 2017 and fired off a season-high 29 against UMass Lowell.
Saint Mary's and Vermont have only met once before in a 2007 match played in Moraga that ended in a 1-1 draw.
ABOUT MAINE
The Gaels and Black Bears will meet for the first time in either program's history on Sunday in a neutral site match on Vermont's campus. Similar to UVM, Maine has only played one contest in 2018 which ended in a 2-0 road loss to UMass. Annalena Kriebisch started in goal for the Black Bears in the season opener and made an impressive eight saves despite picking up the loss.
Last year, Maine posted a 5-10-1 record with a 3-5 AEC mark. The Black Bears struggled away from home last season as they went 1-7-0 between road and neutral site matches. On offense, five different Maine players tied for the team's lead in goals scored last season with two goals each. Â
