Saint Mary's battled a tough SMU squad on Sunday at Stanford University.

STANFORD, Calif. — In their second match of the weekend, the Gaels dropped a tough match to SMU on the campus of Stanford.

Saint Mary's had a few close matches during the afternoon as Mariia Kozyreva and Aubane Ville led their competitors, 5-4, before the match was called.

In singles, freshman Chloe Goyette was tied in her third set before the action was called. Hind Abdelouahid nearly forced a third set in her match as she fought to a tie-breaker in the second set but ultimately fell 6-3, 7-6.
