Saint Mary's had an impressive performance on Saturday as they collected two singles wins and one doubles victory.
STANFORD, Calif. — Saint Mary's will advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regionals tomorrow as they collected three victories on Saturday in the second day of the tournament.
No. 68 Mariia Kozyreva had a strong performance on the day as she recorded two wins in singles matches to move on to the quarterfinals. In the Round of 32, Kozyreva took on California's Alexis Nelson and won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. The junior advanced to the Round of 16 to face off against No. 30 Emily Arbuthnott and tallied an impressive 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Gabriela Tevez and Jordan Harris each put a hard fight in their respective matches, but ultimately fell in the Round of 32.
In doubles action, No. 48 doubles duo Kozyreva and Danielle McIntyre teamed up to take on the Cal Poly Dunkle/Monaghan pair and earned a 8-2 win to advance to the quarterfinals as the Gaels' lone doubles tandem. Chloe Goyette and Harris also represented the Gaels on doubles courts in the Round of 32, but were overcome by their opposition in an 8-2 decision.
