GOLF | Peterson Paces Individuals in Stockton

Evan Peterson leads the Saint Mary's four individuals after one round at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.

STOCKTON, Calif. — Evan Peterson led the Gaels' individuals on the first day of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational held at The Reserve at Spanos Park on Monday.

Peterson shot even during the first round to end the day tied for 14th out of the 96-man field. The redshirt senior was consistent throughout the round as he recorded 14 pars and was even on both the front and back nine.

Ethan Ashbrook was 4-over on the day to finish t-61st while Dylan VanderVeer (5-over) and freshman Ronnie Hun (8-over) rounded out the SMC competitors.

San Jose State's Sean Yu leads the medalist leaderboard by four strokes after one round of play. The Spartans are also atop the 16-team field at 6-under.

The action continues tomorrow with the second round of the tournament. Saint Mary's tees off on hole 10 beginning at 7:45 a.m.
