MORAGA, Calif. — Women's Basketball's Emily Codding has been named Saint Mary's Student-Athlete of the Week after her performance in the team's victory over Cal Poly on Saturday.
Codding recorded her third double-double of the season in Saturday's win over Cal Poly, going for 14 points and 11 rebounds. She found her stroke from beyond the arc, knocking down four three-pointers, tying the most she has tallied in a game this season. Her 11-rebound performance matched the mark she put up against UC Santa Barbara and Wyoming earlier in the season, and she continued stuffing the stat sheet with six assists.
Spreading out her work throughout the contest, Codding drilled a pair of three-pointers in the first quarter, helping the Gaels get out to a 19-9 lead after the first ten minutes. She then caught fire at the opening of the third quarter, when she hit the first two buckets for the Gaels out of the intermission, with both of them coming from beyond the arc. This helped Saint Mary's pull ahead by 25 early in the second half, and they cruised to an 84-67 victory.
Just three games remain in the non-conference portion of the schedule for Saint Mary's, as they head to Lawrence, Kansas to take on the University of Kansas on Sunday, December 15, with tip-off slated for 12:00 pm PST. The Gaels will be back at home on January 2 when they host their conference home-opener against Pepperdine at 6:30 pm.
