WTEN | Gaels Look to Host UCLA, Long Beach

Saint Mary's will host the Bruins and the Beach in a pair of matchups this weekend.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's women's tennis will look to host a pair of matches against UCLA on Friday and Long Beach on Saturday at the Korth Tennis Complex.

ABOUT THE GAELS
Due to a postponed contest against Sacramento State last weekend, the Gaels have not played a match since they faced off against UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 9 and fell short, 3-4. Mariia Kozyreva will look to continue to lead Saint Mary's in singles action this weekend as she has been a key component in the Gaels' efforts. The doubles tandem Clementine Clement and Liesl Pieters will also look to further their success in the pair of contests this weekend.
ABOUT THE BRUINS
UCLA (5-1) is coming off of their first loss of the season as they were overcome by No. 3 North Carolina at the ITA Team Indoor Championships quarter-final round with a final score of 4-1. In the matchup, Alaina Miller picked up the lone victory for the Bruins in singles play as she defeated her opposition 7-5, 7-5 in a hard-fought match. Miller has led the Bruins so far this season as currently holds a 5-0 overall record in dual-matches.
ABOUT THE BEACH
Long Beach State currently holds a 4-0 overall record as they defeated California State Northridge in a 4-1 decision in their last matchup. During the contest, the top freshman duo cruised to a 6-2 win over their opposition in the top doubles seed. Natalia Monez led the Beach in singles play as she picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 spot. Prior to taking on Saint Mary's on Saturday, the Beach will face off against San Francisco on Friday.
