WTEN | Gaels Hang With Bulldogs But Fall on the Road

Saint Mary's 4-0 loss to the Zags didn't tell the whole story as the Gaels hung close in several matches.
SPOKANE, Wash. — Saint Mary's battled in every match against the Bulldogs (10-9, 5-3 WCC) on Saturday but ultimately fell, 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The doubles' point would down to the wire as the No. 35-ranked tandem of Hind Abdelouahid and Mariia Kozyreva won their match on Court 1, 7-5, to bring the match scores even at 1. On Court 3, Jordan Harris and Danielle McIntyre forced a tiebreaker but were narrowly edged in the end 7-6 (8-6) by Domonique Garley and Sara Komer.
The Gaels were leading, tied, or behind by just a set on three different courts but not before Gonzaga claimed three quick victories to take the match and snap Saint Mary's three-match win streak. The Bulldogs won in straight sets on Courts 1, 4, and 5 and were led by No. 11 Sophie Whittle in their top singles slot.
