LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's had the offense firing on all cylinders Friday night with a 96-61 win over Bay Area foe San Jose State. The Gaels improved to 6-1 with the win and posted their sixth straight victory.

It was a complete team effort against the Spartans (1-1) as Saint Mary's had 11 of their 12 healthy players score in the contest. Dan Fotu posted his first career double-double with a 15 point, 10 rebound night on 6-of-9 shooting while Logan Johnson also scored a career-high 15 in his first game back since Nov. 26 against Northern Iowa. Johnson went 7-of-7 from the charity stripe and grabbed five boards in 18 total minutes off the bench.

Adding to the offensive outburst as the other two double-digit scorers were Matthias Tass with 13 points and Leemet Böckler with 11. Tass began the game by making his first six tries and had a team-best four assists.

Tommy Kuhse added nine points in 17 minutes, Kyle Bowen scored nine, and Alex Ducas provided seven more.

ABOUT EASTERN WASHINGTON
The Eagles are 1-3 to open the season and just posted a win in their most recent game against NAIA College of Idaho. Despite their record, all three losses for EWU have come against Pac-12 opponents and two of those were by less than five points. Eastern Washington was projected to win the Big Sky Conference this season after going 16-4 in league play last year.

EWU has four players who are averaging double-figures this season and are led by Tyler Robertson at 12.3 ppg while shooting 52 percent from the floor. 6-9 forward Tanner Groves is nearly averaging a double-double as well with 11.0 points and 9.8 boards per contest.

As a team, the Eagles shoot over 30 treys per game but have only drained 28 percent of those tries. However, the defense has done an equally strong job at limiting their opponent's perimeter shooting to just 30 percent through four games.

Saint Mary's and Eastern Washington have met eight times in the past with SMC taking six of those games. The Gaels have never lost to EWU in Moraga and most recently defeated the Eagles 93-65 in 2013.

ABOUT COLORADO STATE
The Rams have played just once this season, an 89-77 win over Div. II CSU Pueblo on Saturday, but are scheduled to face Northern Arizona tonight at home before flying to the Bay Area. The Gaels are the last non-conference opponent CSU is scheduled to face before they begin Mountain West Conference action.

Sophomore guard David Roddy had a team-best 25 points against CSU Pueblo while fellow guard Isaiah Stevens posted 18 in the win. Stevens and Roddy were first and third, respectively, in scoring on the roster last season despite both being freshman in 2019-20. The team also returns 5-10 sharpshooter Kendle Moore who shot nearly 44 percent from deep a year ago.

The Gaels and Rams have not met since 1984 and all three previous meetings have been played on a neutral court. CSU was victorious in the team's last meeting and the Gaels' lone win in the head-to-head series was a 68-64 nail biter back in the 1951-52 season.
