SB | Earle, Casas Claim WCC Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Saint Mary's has swept the final West Coast Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week awards with Sofia Earle and Alex Casas grabbing the honors, respectively.

In the team's lone game last week versus No. 9 Oregon, Earle entered into the game in relief in the seventh. The left-hander put down three of the four batters she faced and induced two groundouts as well as a flyout.

Earle finished the season with a team-best 3.23 ERA in 26 innings of work. She also led the team in WHIP and batting average against and was second in strikeouts with 24.

Casas went 1-for-3 at the dish with a double in the contest. The freshman's double broke up Brooke Yanez's no-hitter in the sixth inning and Casas would move on to third later in the inning on a wild pitch.

Casas' double allowed her to finish the season with a .300 batting average and a team-best .408 on-base percentage. Her seven doubles matched Halle Sullivan for most on the team.
