MSOC | Senior Day Up Next for the Gaels This Saturday

MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's Men's Soccer Team will finish the 2021 regular season with a chance to finish as high as second in the West Coast Conference when they take on San Diego at home at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday. They will honor their six seniors before the game in Nicholas Lapinid, David Brog, Zack Littman, James Person, Sebastian Schacht, and Philippe Van Der Lof.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels won their final road game of the season 3-1 against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. In the 3rd minute Valentin Kurz gathered a loose ball at the top of the box and drilled a shot with his right foot into the lower left corner of the goal past the diving keeper to make it 1-0 Saint Mary's.
 
In the 39th minute Riley Lynch worked a give-and-go with Andrew Rotter before Lynch buried a left-footed shot over the leaping keeper to make it 2-1 Saint Mary's. In the second half Boyd Curry drilled a shot into the upper right corner of the net on a set piece from just outside of the penalty area to make it 3-1 SMC in the 58th minute.
ABOUT SAN DIEGO
 
Though the Toreros have only won two games this season, they have scored a goal in 10-straight games.
 
Senior Alex Churness was selected to the 2021 Preseason All-WCC Men's Soccer Team. He was named to the All-WCC First Team following the 2020 (Spring 2021) campaign. San Diego finished the abbreviated Spring 2021 season at 3-3-2 and returned 17 players from last year's roster.
 
The Gaels are 11-29-9 all time against San Diego and played to a scoreless tie last spring.
