MSOC | Engmann Receives WCC Offensive POTW Award
3/30/2021 10:02:00 AM | Men's Soccer
SAN MATEO, Calif. — Gaels' freshman Christian Engmann has been named the West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his three-point performance against San Francisco over the weekend.
The defender tallied his first career goal in the 19th minute of the match following a corner kick and tapped in his own rebound to put SMC up 1-0. Minutes into the second half, Engmann tossed a long throw-in into the box that teammate Boyd Curry headed into the back of the net. That goal proved to be the game-winner in the team's eventual 3-1 victory.
Engmann is the fifth Gael to receive a WCC Player of the Week honor this season and the third to win the Offensive POTW. He now has four points this year and is one of five Gaels with at least four points.
Saint Mary's next match comes this Saturday against the Pacific Tigers. The game will be played in Stockton and kick-off is slated for 4:30 p.m.
