Stats
The season series between Saint Mary's and Cal wraps up on Wednesday night at Evans Diamond, as the Gaels and Golden Bears meet for the sixth time in 2021. Most recently, these teams played last Tuesday at Louis Guisto Field, where the Gaels dropped a close one 3-2 to Cal. The Bears took the lead in the eighth inning on a passed ball, and held on despite a late rally in the ninth from SMC. This is the third time Saint Mary's will play at Cal this year, after dropping the first two meetings on March 4-5.
FRIDAY
Golf at PING Cougar Classic, All Day (Provo, Utah)
Leaderboard
Saint Mary's will play the first two rounds of the PING Cougar Classic hosted by BYU on Friday. The tournament will be played at Riverside Country Club in Provo and is configured as a 7,142 yard par 72. The event will be the team's final tune-up before beginning play in the West Coast Conference Tournament which takes place from April 29 to May 1 at Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, Nev. It'll be the first time in history the WCC Tournament has been hosted at that course.
Women's Tennis at Gonzaga, 1:00 pm (Spokane, Wash.)
Live Stream | Stats
The Gaels will play their penultimate game of the regular season on Friday against the Bulldogs in Spokane. SMC has won two of their last three contests, including a recent 6-1 performance against Pacific over the weekend, but will be tested against a tough GU squad. The Zags are 11-6 this year and 3-1 in conference play. Cate Broerman of Gonzaga is 13-0 in singles this year while playing mostly in the No. 3 slot.
Men's Tennis vs. Gonzaga, 2:00 pm (Moraga, Calif.)
While the women's team faces off with the Zags, men's tennis will host Gonzaga at the same time at Korth Tennis Complex. SMC will be looking to break their three-match losing skid against the Bulldogs who come to Moraga with a 1-6 conference record. Despite their 12-10 overall record, GU is 0-4 on the road this season and Saint Mary's will look to continue that trend.
Baseball vs. Pacific, 3:00 pm (Moraga, Calif.)
Live Stream | Stats
The Gaels are back in conference play over the weekend as they welcome in the Pacific Tigers for a three-game series, beginning Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm. Saint Mary's comes in hot, having just swept their first WCC series of the year last weekend, taking all three against Santa Clara. Their win last Friday, behind starting pitcher Ryan Taurek, was one of their best games of the year. Saint Mary's took the lead in the sixth inning and added on in the seventh and eighth, en route to a 7-3 win over Santa Clara. The Gaels took three out of four in non-conference fashion against the Tigers in March.
SATURDAY
Golf at PING Cougar Classic, All Day (Provo, Utah)
Leaderboard
Less than two weeks ago, Saint Mary's competed at the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis and tied for first in the 15-team affair. Four different Gaels finished in the top-20 during the tournament including Ethan Farnam who led the team by finishing t-10th. The Gaels most recently made an appearance at the Cougar Classic two years ago. SMC finished in seventh place out of 15 teams by shooting 10-under.
Women's Rowing vs. Santa Clara and LMU (Sacramento, Calif.)
Saint Mary's hits the water one final time before the WCC Championships as they take on a pair of WCC opponents in Santa Clara and LMU. Last weekend, Saint Mary's put six boats in the water as they raced against Stanford and San Diego, nearly upending both teams in a few races. This will be the final tune-up before the WCC Championships and should be a good barometer test for where the Gaels stand against the rest of the conference. The Gaels won two out of three exhibitions against the Broncos earlier this spring.
