AS A JUNIOR (2022): appeared 15 times in his junior season with 8 of those appearances being starts… recorded 53 strikeouts in 55 innings of work… compiled a 4-3 record while also having a 5.53 ERA… Taurek’s best start came on May 6 when he posted 6.1 IP, 9 K, and only 1 ER in the 3-2 win over the USF.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2021): Appeared in 16 games for the Gaels during his sophomore year, making nine starts...went 3-3 went a 4.55 earned run average across 61.1 innings, the fourth-most innings on the team...began the season out of the bullpen and allowed just four runs in his seven outings...picked up a win in his first start of the year, going five innings against Cal at home on March 7...struck out a career-best eight in a loss against Pacific on April 23, throwing six innings...went at least five innings in seven of his outings, including five of his starts...in his first 10 outings of the year, he never allowed more than one earned run.
AS A FRESHMAN (2020): Appeared in four games during his freshman season and was one of the best arms for coach Moore…did not allow a run during his 12 innings on the mound, while allowing seven hits, six walks, and striking out ten…held opponents to just a .167 batting average, lowest among pitchers with at least 11 innings…picked up wins in his collegiate debut, 2.1 innings against Utah, and in his first collegiate start on March 10 against UC Davis…that start was the only shutout of the year for the Gaels, where Taurek went the first six innings and allowed just two hits, striking out five.
PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S: Dominant right-handed pitcher from Foothill High School...appeared in 30 games at the varsity level across his junior and senior seasons...went 14-5 with a 1.88 earned run average, posting his best numbers during his senior season (8-4, 1.83 ERA)...was named second team All-League in 2017, first team in 2018, along with Pitcher of the Year both seasons.
