MSOC | Two Gaels Receive All-Region Recognition

KANSAS CITY — United Soccer Coaches released their All-Region teams this morning and two Gaels were selected to the West Region Second Team: midfielder Sebastian Schacht and defender Boyd Curry.

The honor for Schacht is his second All-Region nod in as many seasons. The junior was placed on the Second Team as well in the 2019 campaign and rejoins that team once again this spring. The New Zealand native played in all nine matches for SMC this season and tallied seven points on three goals and an assist. Schacht was the team's go-to man for penalty kicks and he was a perfect 3-for-3 on such attempts. Defensively, Schacht helped the Gaels post four shutouts and was third on the team in minutes played.

Curry finds himself as an All-Region player for the first time in his collegiate career. The sophomore tied Schacht for second on the team in points with seven as he also posted three goals and an assist. Despite being a member of the backline, Curry was an offensive threat as he finished second on the team in shot attempts and had a knack for getting his head on the ball off set pieces. The fellow Kiwi tallied his three goals in the final four matches of the year and all were of the game-winning variety.

Earlier this spring, Schacht was named to the All-WCC First Team for the second time while Curry was selected to his first ever Second Team.
