LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's Men's Soccer battled the USF Dons to a scoreless tie on Saturday afternoon despite 11 total shots for the Gaels. Shots were even at the half, with the Gaels having a great scoring chance in the first frame, with
Cade Cowan forcing the USF keeper to make a big save.
Â
SMC keeper
Kash Oladapo had to make his own big stop in the 32nd minute, when the USF attacker tried to back foot a shot while facing away from the goal to try and catch Oladapo off guard, but he was ready and dove to his right to make the stop.
Â
Saint Mary's would have the advantage in scoring chances in the second half as they outshot San Francisco 8-3 in the second, but each team just forced one save from the opposing keeper. Though the Gaels weren't able to put a shot into the back of the net, it was good to see the offensive life and willingness to take shots in the nil-nil draw.

ABOUT Pacific
Pacific seniors Yazid Omri and Ryan Her were named to the 2022 WCC Preseason Team for the second straight season. This is the third time Her has been named to a Preseason Team. Both players were recognized as First-Team All-WCC honorees after the 2021 season.
Â
Her was second on the team last season in points with 16 and tied for the team lead in goals with six. Her had four game-winning goals and was the only player on the team with more than one game-winning goal.Â
Â
Omri scored four goals, including one game-winning goal, and assisted on four more during the season while playing the fourth most minutes on the team. Omri put 16 shots on goal, which was the best on the team.Â
Â
The Gaels are 9-5-3 all-time against the Tigers after a 1-0 victory by SMC last October 23.

ABOUT Gonzaga
Three seniors returned to the Zags this season, including Theo O'Malley, Matt Kintzle and Joe Corner. Another senior is Noah Bushey, who is a transfer from Florida Gulf Coast and originally from Spokane. There are also a handful of newcomers this year, including 10 freshmen.Â
This marks head coach Aaron Lewis' first season at the helm as he was named the head coach earlier this year. Previously, Lewis was the GU assistant coach starting in 2019 and came to Gonzaga after six seasons as the men's soccer head coach at Corban University.
Gonzaga's junior Demitrius Kigeya was also recently named preseason All-West Coast Conference.
Kigeya had a team-high five points last season. In 10 games, he scored two goals and was credited with an assist. He took a team-best 29 shots, with 12 on goal. The junior was tabbed second team All-Conference following the season and was Second Team All-WCC in 2019. He was preseason All-WCC last season as well.
Â
Saint Mary's is 24-12-4 all time against Gonzaga after a 3-1 win in Spokane last season.
