BASE | Cal Evens Season Series

MORAGA, Calif. - The Gaels couldn't pull off the two-game sweep of the Cal Bears after Cal's 6-0 win in Moraga, Calif. on Monday.

Saint Mary's won in Berkeley, Calif. on March 29 by a score of 10-5, as each team won on the other's field by roughly a handful of runs. The Bears used three pitchers to keep the Gaels to two hits on the afternoon.

Connor Linchey started the game and was coming off five innings of one-run ball at Stanford where he had seven strikeouts to just one walk. But Cal was able to score early with a pair of home runs in the second inning. Ryan Daugherty didn't allow a run in 2.1 innings pitched. Jack Snook and Owen Cuffe didn't allow an earned run in the 4.2 innings they covered, though two Gaels errors led to two more runs scoring.

Blake McDonald got the Gaels first hit of the afternoon when he pinch hit in the fifth, but got caught in a run down and was eliminated from the bases. Seth Nager singled to right in the bottom of the eighth, but that was immediately followed by a double play.
