

West Coast Conference Announces 2021-22 All-Academic Teams

SAN MATEO, Calif. — On Thursday, the West Coast Conference announced their 2021-22 All-Academic teams. All 15 varsity athletic programs sponsored by the WCC saw their teams revealed, and Saint Mary's is well represented across the board. In total, 93 student-athletes for SMC qualified for All-Academic teams in the conference. The Conference honored the student-athletes who were not only successful athletically but also all stars in the classroom.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
A total of 10 student-athletes from the Men's Cross Country program received All-Academic honors, with Lucas Chung taking home first team honors for the first time in his career.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Nine women from the Women's Cross Country program took home All-Academic honors from the conference, with Molly Dreher capping off a great season with first team honors for the Gaels.

SMC Men's Soccer had 10 players earn All-Academic honors with Valentin Kurz garnering first-team honors.

VOLLEYBALL (INDOOR and BEACH)
A total of nine student-athletes from Gaels Volleyball were listed on the All-Academic teams from the conference: five players received honors in both indoor and beach volleyball.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Three Gaels qualified for the All-Academic team for Men's Basketball, up from just one in years past. Tommy Kuhse and Kyle Bowen earned first team honors, the first time the Gaels have had multiple players on the first team since 2016.

Women's Basketball had four players earn WCC All-Academic honors while playing big roles on the court as well.

Gaels Baseball was well represented on the All-Academic team with 12 players making the grade, as pitcher Jackson Hulett led the way by making WCC first team with his perfect 4.0 GPA.

The Golf Team had five players make the cut for the All-Academic team that had successful tournament appearances and academic success in 2022-23.

Eight players on Gaels Softball were named All-Academic in the West Coast Conference, continuing a strong run of success in the classroom within the program.
