NORMAN, Okla. – The 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America, with two Gaels among the 440 NCAA Division I athletes from 157 schools to earn the All-American Scholar Honors.

Dylan VanderVeer and
Michael Slesinski were both named 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars. Both were grad students in the 2021-22 season and each scored highly academically this past year.

VanderVeer finished with a 3.411 GPA while majoring in Business Administration and Slesinski had a 3.317 earning his Professional MBA.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA.
In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Both VanderVeer and Slesinski had very successful seasons on the links as well. Slesinksi finished finished second overall at the Husky Invitational last September among 80 golfers and led the field with two eagles. The Fremont, Calif. native shot a tournament-best 66 in the second round to go along with a 70 in round one and a 72 in round three to finish 8-under par overall.

Slesinski finished his Gaels career with an average score of 72.79 and just 1.4 strokes over par. His lowest round was a 64 and had 18 rounds in his career where he shot in the 60s. He was ranked as high as 39th in the country last fall and was the WCC Golfer of the Month in September.

Slesinksi shot up the leader board on day two of the 2021 Wolf Pack Classic hosted by the University of Nevada., finishing tied for the best score in round three and eighth overall. He climbed 20 spots on the player leader board after shooting a 65 with an eagle on day two to finish seven-under par.

VanderVeer's average score in his time as a Gael sits at 74.02 with a career best round of a 67 as he scored in the 60s 12 times in his career. The El Dorado Hills, Calif. native finished his final season strong at the WCC Championships. He finished 4-under par after shooting a 68 in his final round as a Gael, tying him for the third-best score of any golfer on day three to finish with a 222 overall, all while leading the Gaels with 14 birdies made.
