BASE | Linchey Throws Complete Game in Gaels 6-2 Win

MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's got another gem from Connor Linchey with his first collegiate complete game, and Christian Alamanza hit two home runs in the Gaels 6-2 win over Pacific. The win brings SMC to 7-6 in WCC play as they hang on to the sixth spot in conference tourney positioning.

The Gaels scored first on an RBI ground out from Nathan Chong in the fourth inning, and the scored stayed that way until the seventh as the Tigers also got a good start from left hander Grant Stevens.

Pacific's third baseman Chaz Myers made a nice play to end the sixth inning, and of course led off the seventh with a solo home run to tie the game at one apiece.

Saint Mary's would answer immediately though, first with Christian Almanza hitting a solo home run (9) off the left-handed pitcher to right center to put the Gaels back on top 2-1. That was followed by a Dalton Mashore triple into left center and a Blake McDonald single to make it 3-1 SMC.

Cody Kashitomo reached on an error at third that moved McDonald up to second with two outs. McDonald stolen third and came in to score on an errant throw from the catcher attempting to throw him out for a 4-1 Gaels lead.

Almanza would homer again in eighth, this time off a right hander for a two-run bomb to the batter's eye in center after Chong walked to give the Gaels some breathing room at 6-1.

Myers would hit a solo home run off Linchey again in the ninth, as he one of the few players to square up the Gaels starter on the day to make it 6-2, but the Tigers' next two batters would strike out and ground out to seal Linchey's complete game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
