GOLF | Gaels Climb Six Spots in Strong Finsish to Regular Season

PROVO, Utah – The Saint Mary's Golf Team finished the regular season strong on Saturday, climbing up six spots to finish fifth overall as a team.
The Gaels were led by Mitchell Hoey who had the best third round of any golfer in the 92-player field with a 65 on the par-72 course. That monster third round led to him finishing in a tie for 11th overall at 7-under par.
Connor Reis was right behind him as one of three players to shoot a 66 on the final day to finish 5-under par for the tournament. Reis finished tied for 20th overall as he and Hoey each climbed up 25 spots on the leader board. Hoey finished at 209 strokes for the tournament and Reis finished at 211.
Kristian Bressum stayed steady in the third round with a 69 to finish 4-under par for the tournament at 212 strokes. Hoey was 1-under on par threes, while Bressum was 4-under on par fours and remained the top Gael at birdies made with 14.
Henry Fitzhugh was the lone Gael to make an eagle, accomplishing it on the seventh hole of round one as he finished even overall at 216 strokes over the three rounds.
SMC was tied for third on par fours at 1-under and were third in birdies with 59. It was a great finish for the Gaels as they aim to carry that confidence and momentum into the conference tournament this week.
