BASE | Game Two at UNLV Gets Away from Gaels

LAS VEGAS – Saint Mary's Baseball had one get away from them on Wednesday afternoon, as UNLV pulled away for a 12-2 win to take both games of the midweek series.
SMC got on top of the first inning again, this time when an error at short allowed Christian Almanza to reach and for Gavin Napier to get to third. That allowed Napier to score for an early 1-0 lead on a double play ball off the bat of Ryan Pierce.
But the Hustling Rebels would take over from there. A pair of singles chased Dylan Delvecchio after two innings and two batters. Adam Enyart came in and allowed a pair of doubles to score three runs to make it 3-1 UNLV. Ryan Sanders would replace Enyart and one more run would score on a double for a 4-1 deficit.
Saint Mary's would get one back when Napier was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 4-2. But the Rebels would get Almanza to fly out to center to end the threat.
UNLV would get four runs in the third and fourth innings, along with three more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. SMC would work in a lot of their backups during the game, especially after the Rebels got out to a big lead, with the Gaels making seven substitutions in their lineup during the game.
UP NEXT
The Gaels begin WCC play this Friday when they head to San Diego for a three-game set with the Toreros.
