LAS VEGAS – Saint Mary's Baseball will play a two-game, midweek set this week at UNLV, followed by their WCC opener in San Diego.

Saint Mary's Baseball scored six runs on two, three-run home runs in the eighth inning to win 7-1 over San Jose State and even the season series with the Spartans.
Three long balls accounted for all of SMC's scoring, with a solo home run from Dalton Mashore to tie it at 1-1, and three-run blasts from Christian Almanza and Connor "Bear" Harrison in the eighth to get the win.
Dylan Delvecchio went three innings and allowed just one run in his start. Ryan Wiltse would come in for the fourth inning, and throw four perfect innings with six strikeouts to collect the win in by getting SMC into the eighth still tied up at 1-1.

The Hustlin' Rebels return 14 letter winners, and the Scarlet & Gray featured one player on the league's Preseason All-Conference list, with Rylan Charles picking up the honor from the outfield. Charles batted .280 for UNLV last season, totaling a team-high 60 hits among returners and 39 RBI's in 2023. They also return their most efficient returner at the plate, Alex Pimentel holding a .314 average last season with a team-leading 33 walks. Pimentel also hit 10 doubles and five triples during the 2023 campaign.
The Rebels feature 19 newcomers with five freshmen on the roster and 14 transfers. The Rebels had an overall record of 21-30 in the 2023 season, including a Mountain West record of 12-18. The program earned three Mountain West Player of the Week honors over the course of last season, including two Freshman of the Week mentions by then-freshman Reese Lueck and a Pitcher of the Week award for Noah Carabajal.

San Diego was picked to finish second in the 2024 WCC Baseball Coaches Preseason poll, just four points and two first-place votes behind preseason favorite Santa Clara (58 points, five first-place votes).
Junior utility player Angelo Peraza and sophomore infielder Jack Gurevitch were selected to the 2024 WCC Baseball Preseason Team. Last season, Gurevitch was named to the WCC All-Freshmen Team, and is the reigning WCC Player of the Week.
Gurevitch batted .500 (7-for-14) while drawing five walks, scoring three runs, doubling three times, driving in three runs and stealing a base during San Diego's home win vs. CSUN and winning two of three at Michigan.
He got on base at a .632 clip across the four-game stretch and boasted a .714 slugging percentage. On Friday, Gurevitch went 2-for-3 with a run, a double, two RBI and a walk against the Wolverines. He parlayed that performance into a 4-for-5 afternoon on Saturday, scoring a pair of runs, doubling twice, driving in a run and drawing a walk as USD won, 16-7, to secure the series win.
