MORAGA, Calif. - Graduate transfer Malia Latu led the Saint Mary's women's basketball team in scoring this week as they went 2-1 with wins over San Jose State and Grand Canyon, earning her first Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week award.
Latu showcased her 1-v-1 ability and off the dribble skill as she broke out for a season high 18 points in the Gaels 62-54 road win over Grand Canyon Sunday afternoon. She did all her damage off the bench as the Palo Alto native finished 5-for-13 from the field, 2-for-3 from beyond the arc and an efficient 6-for-7 from the free throw line. Earlier in the week, Latu went 3-for-4 from the field for eight points and four rebounds as the Gaels outlasted the Spartans 58-53.
