

MT&F | Spillane and Wirshing Break Indoor Program Records at UW Preview

SEATTLE, Wash. — Saint Mary's Men's Track and Field opened the 2026 indoor season with a strong showing, highlighted by record breaking and personal best performances.
Graduate student Oisin Spillane led the way for the Gaels in the 3000 meters, finishing in seventh overall in 8:14.94. His impressive race set a new indoor program record for the Gaels. Junior Jacob Moffett followed with a personal best of 8:28.87, finishing third in his heat and 30th overall. Also collecting personal bests were Diego Urdiales and Jackson Woolf, who finished in 8:50.91 and 8:53.37, respectively.
Adding to the success, Spencer Wirshing set a new Saint Mary's indoor program record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.87, which placed him sixth out of 34 competing runners.
In the mile, senior Anthony Erikson's effort earned himself a personal best time of 4:21.10. Both Zack Springer (1:23.15) and Gus Hollister (1:25.67) raced in their first collegiate 600 meter event, while Anthony Sharp (2:32.84) and Jacob Schuetze (2:34.56) raced in their first 1000 meter event, setting the standard for races to come.
The Gaels will return to the track on January 31st at the Inland Northwest Invitational in Spokane, Washington.
