TUCSON, Ariz. - Saint Mary's got off to a nice start at the 2026 N.I.T. In Tucson Monday morning as they finished the day alone in third place behind 5th ranked Texas and 30th ranked Arizona. Most of the field only made it through 12 holes in the second round as play was suspended due to darkness but Saint Mary's had three players finish the day under par to contribute to their 15-under team score.

Leading the charge in round one was senior Aidan Lee and junior Inigo Izuzquiza who each carded a 69 (-3), contributing to the team's 8-under first round. Both players worked around an early bogey but recorded a pair of birdies over their closing holes to get to three-under.

Fellow senior Mitchell Hoey was also 2-under-par tying the team lead with four birdies in his opening round. Avery Lazarski was even par in his opening round to finish as the fourth counting score for the Gaels.

Through twelve holes of the second round, it would be redshirt freshman Sam Baumuller getting off to a quick start as he went into the break of play at 5-under-par. Baumuller scored under-par in four of his first six holes to start the second round including an eagle on the par five tenth. Mitchell Hoey also had three birdies and a clean card through his first eleven holes of the second round as Saint Mary's sits alone in third place at 15-under-par.
