MGOLF | Saint Mary’s Climbs the Leaderboard with 6-Under Second Round in Hawaii

LIHU'E, Kaua'i - Saint Mary's jumped seven spots on the leaderboard in the second round of the 2026 John Burns Intercollegiate Friday afternoon thanks to a 6-under round. Three of the four counting scores were in red figures including the low round of the day from Avery Lazarski. Lazarski shot a 67 (-3) which featured two birdies and an eagle on the par-five second. He also jumped 32 spots on the individual leaderboard thanks to his low round, now sitting in 14th place.
Sam Baumuller and Aidan Lee each carded rounds of 2-under-par, combining for seven birdies. Baumuller suffered three bogeys on the card but recorded a team high five birdies to finish 68 (-2) while Lee was rock solid, finishing with a pair of birdies and a bogey-free round.
The Gaels also jumped Santa Clara on the leaderboard and now sit in a tie for sixth place at even par for the tournament along with Long Beach State. LMU and Texas A&M are tied for the tournament lead at 8-under heading into the final round on Saturday. Saint Mary's tied UNLV for the low team round of the entire tournament at 6-under as no team has shot lower than 4-under through the two rounds.
