BVB | Gaels Log Pair of 5-0 Sweeps to Complete Perfect Weekend in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. — For the first time in seven years, the Saint Mary's beach volleyball team is 10 games over .500, running its record to 14-4 after a pair of 5-0 victories over College of the Siskiyous and Cabrillo College on Saturday. The Gaels were last 10 games over .500 in 2019, when they sat at 16-6 through their first 22 matches of the year. They continue to chase the 2017 squad for best start in program history, now just two wins away from tying their mark of 16-4 through the first 20 matches of a season.

The Gaels went a perfect 10-0 on the day, with all 10 points captured in straight sets. Genevieve Bane/Hannah Couch at the ones, Clarissa Klein/Angelina Bour at the twos and Hannah Glick/Barett Nolan at the fives all finished off perfect 4-0 weeks. Couch's first match against Siskiyous marked her 120th as a Gael, as she has now played in more matches than any other person to don a Gaels beach volleyball uniform. She also moved into a tie with Emily Bible for second most wins in program history, with 72. Only Lindsey Knudsen (83) has won more matches than those two. Angelina Bour picked up her 60th career victory, making her just the eighth player in program history to reach that mark. True freshman Isla Johnson continued her epic collegiate start, now running her record to 15-3 on the sand.

Saint Mary's will now get prepped for the home opener, as they will take to the sands of Shaw and Knudsen Courts on Saturday and Sunday next week, hosting Pacific and Washington.
