

MT&F | Wirshing Takes Second Consecutive 800m Win as Gaels Impress at Cal Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. — Saint Mary's men's track and field continued their successful season on Saturday at the Cal Invitational, highlighted by another standout performance from junior Spencer Wirshing.
For the second consecutive meet, Wirshing won the 800-meter event, crossing the finish line in 1:52.40. With the performance, he now holds four of the fastest times in program history. Teammates Eric Martinez and Noah Pagaran followed with personal bests, placing fifth (1:54.60) and sixth (1:54.82), respectively. Freshman Zack Springer added a personal best time of 1:56.44 in twelfth place.
In the 1500m, Jason Habash and Alan Solari came in back-to-back in sixth and seventh place. Habash clocked a time of 3:51.81, while Solari recorded his personal best time of 3:55.13. Freshman Anthony Sharp finished next, placing eleventh in the event at 3:56.85. Also earning their personal best times were Andrew Perez (4:06.53) and Joel Fischer (4:09.91).
Jacob Moffett and Anthony Erikson were the lone Gaels to compete in the 5000 meters. Moffett placed second with a personal best time of 14:35.50, while Erikson came in fourth and earned his personal best time of 14:58.02.
Saint Mary's will be back in action on April 3 and 4 at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco.
