SB | Buckley’s Five Extra Base Hits Earn Her Sixth Career WCC Player of the Week Honor

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — For the first time this season and sixth time in her illustrious Saint Mary's Softball career, junior Sam Buckley has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week.
Buckley led the Gaels to a 4-0 weekend in Colorado and continued to rise throughout the Gaels' history books as one of the greatest softball players ever to don a Saint Mary's uniform.
A native of Burbank, California, Sam Buckley had an offensive awakening in the Rockies this past weekend, leading the Gaels with five of her seven hits coming of the extra base variety, including three homers and nine RBI. She moved into second place all-time in program history with 24 home runs in her career, while moving into the top five in RBI and top three in runs scored. She also was perfect in the field at third base on 13 fielding chances and swiped both of her attempted stolen bags successfully. On Saturday in the doubleheader finale against Northern Colorado, she went 6-for-7 with two doubles, three homers and eight RBI.
Buckley and the Gaels return home this week to open conference play with a three-game series against Pacific, which starts on Friday.
