

WT&F | Gaels Open Outdoor Season with First Place Finish at Golden Gate Track Fest

SAN FRANCISCO — The Saint Mary's women's track and field team competed in their first outdoor meet of the season and took first at the Golden Gate Track Fest on Friday, highlighted by multiple personal best performances and strong finishes.
In the 100-meter, three freshmen represented the Gaels. Terra Pandolfi led Saint Mary's across the finish line and took fourth place overall with her personal best time of 13.34, the tenth best time in program history. Following her was Faviola Quintana who also earned her best time of 13.79, snatching eighth place. Breanna Bailey joined them in receiving her personal best time, finishing the race in 14.60.
Madison Dwyer paved the way for the Gaels in the 200m, taking second place overall in 26.18 which ranks as the fifth best time in program history. She now holds the first, second, fourth, fifth, and seventh best times in program history. Pandolfi earned her best time as well, crossing the finish line in 27.51 to take sixth place.
Freshman Averie Peterson took third overall in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:19.78, her personal best time. Alexis Ortiz snatched tenth place in her quickest time of 2:23.87. Also earning their best times in the event were Ava Luczkow (2:24.69), Allie Davis-Libiano (2:30.26), and Peyton Miles (2:39.86).
In the 1500m, freshmen Courtney Fitzgibbon and Maya Crimin led the way for Saint Mary's placing ninth and tenth in their best times of 4:48.52 and 4:50.65, respectively. Also recording best times in the 1500 meters were Ava Luczkow (4:52.02), Averie Peterson (4:56.02), and Zoe Leach (4:57.41).
Fitzgibbon also finished first for the Gaels in the 3000m taking third overall with her best time of 10:04.03. Leach (10:16.39), Crimin (10:20.19), and Jane Harig (10:23.21) followed in sixth, eighth, and tenth place, respectively. Emma West (10:52.71), Jane Carney (10:57.75), and Kylie Wisley (11:18.72) all earned their best times.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Davis-Libiano, Dwyer, Elizabeth Nip, and Ortiz finished first with a time of 4:10.07.
The Gaels throwers saw success in their events. Alexys Carlson earned her best marks in shot put (36' 8"), discus throw (126' 3"), and javelin throw (73' 0"). Mychaela Parker found her best in all three as well, throwing 36' 10" in the shot put, 104' 4" in discus, and 44' 10" in javelin. Eliza Wong joined in the impressive showing and recorded personal bests in the shot put (22' 0"), discus (103' 8"), and javelin (77' 8").
Saint Mary's will return to action on Saturday, March 21 at the Cal Invitational.
