BSB | Ian Josephson Named WCC Freshman of the Week After Historic Performance

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - True freshman Ian Josephson earned this week's West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week award for his first career conference weekly award.
Saint Mary's went 4-1 this past week and Josephson slashed .474 from the plate with nine hits, three doubles and seven RBI. Josephson broke out for a career week as he started in four of the five games and also made history recording the program's first ever cycle on Wednesday in the Gaels' 14-4 midweek win over the Roadrunners. The San Mateo native recorded a career high four hits in his cycle performance including a game ending RBI double in the seventh to clinch the 14-4 run rule victory for Saint Mary's. Josephson then got the start at third base in all three games against Santa Clara where he tallied five hits including a pair of doubles in the wild series finale win over the Broncos on Sunday.
Over his 20 games played, Josephson is now hitting .386 for the year with 17 hits, four doubles and nine RBI as a true freshman. He became the first Saint Mary's player to be named WCC Freshman of the Week since Ian Armstrong won the weekly award back on April 28 of the 2025 season. Saint Mary's will host Nevada in its midweek contest on Monday at 4:00 p.m. before hosting WCC rival Gonzaga for its conference series starting on Friday at 3:00 p.m. All games can be streamed live on ESPN+ and tickets can be bought online at smcgaels.com/tickets.
