MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's beach volleyball team capped off its historic 2026 regular season with a record of 25-10, good for its most wins in a single season in program history. The Gaels will look to add a few more wins to that tally as they begin the quest for their first ever West Coast Conference Title in Santa Monica on April 23 and 24. The Gaels earned the three seed in the double-elimination tournament, and will open play up at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday against the six seed Pacific Tigers.
In their last time out, the Gaels celebrated Senior Day at Shaw and Knudsen Courts with a 5-0 sweep of WCC foe San Francisco. All seven seniors; Alisia Silverthorn, Barett Nolan, Clarissa Klein, Hannah Glick, Genevieve Bane, Angelina Bour and Hannah Couch picked up victories to make their final home match all the more special. For Couch, she logged career win number 83, tying her with Lindsey Knudsen for most ever wins in a Gaels uniform. Bour became just the fourth ever Gael to reach 70 wins, joining Couch, Knudsen and Emily Bible in that category. Rounding out the group of superlative performances, Hannah Glick added to her single season program record win tally with her 28th of the year.
The WCC Beach Volleyball Tournament features all seven WCC programs in a double-elimination style bracket. The three-seed Gaels will open up against the six-seed Pacific Tigers at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. A win will move them into the winners bracket, where they will take on the winner of two-seed Pepperdine and seven-seed Portland at 3:15 p.m., while a loss will put them on the elimination side of the bracket against the loser of the aforementioned Pepperdine-Portland matchup at 2 p.m. A win in the opening match will guarantee that the Gaels will only have to play once on Thursday. If the Gaels lose their first contest and win their second, they will have to play a second elimination battle on Thursday, this time against the loser of four-seed Santa Clara and five-seed San Francisco at 4:30 p.m.
Day two of the tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will span five total matches, culminating with the championship dual at 1:30 p.m. The Gaels twice in program history have made it to the WCC Championship dual, but have never won a conference title. All matches of the 2026 WCC Beach Volleyball Tournament can be streamed live on ESPN+.
