OKLAHOMA CITY — The West Coast Conference leading Saint Mary's Gaels continue to rise in the eyes of the national ranking voters, now receiving 10 votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Top-25. The 10 votes make the Gaels the top vote receiving team not to be ranked in the top-25, with No. 25 Washington receiving 37 votes one spot in front of them.
The Gaels have won seven in a row and 10 of their last 11 contests, running their record to 36-12, six more than the previous single season program record win total with at least six more games to go. The Gaels have picked up ranked wins over now No. 18 Stanford and No. 25 Washington, and played an extremely tight contest against now No. 21 South Carolina. The Gaels are also the highest rated mid-major program in this poll, ahead of Grand Canyon (6 votes), Belmont (4 votes), Marshall (2 votes), Texas State (2 votes) and Southeastern Louisiana (1 votes).
