BVB | Gaels Set New Single Season Win Mark with Wins Over Concordia Irvine and Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Saint Mary's beach volleyball team set a new high water mark for wins in a single season, besting Concordia Irvine and Sacramento State on Friday to move to 21-9 overall. The Gaels surpassed their previous program high of 20 wins, accomplished twice in program history (2025 and 2019).
The Gaels opened their day with another hard fought battle against the Golden Eagles of Concordia Irvine. Just like their meeting in Hawaii earlier this year, the match was decided by a 3-2 margin, but this time, it was the Gaels finishing on top. Bella Reyes and Isla Johnson started the day off right with a straight set victory in the fours. Concordia rallied back to win the next two, putting the Gaels' backs against the wall. Hannah Glick and Barett Nolan got the Gaels back on level footing with another straight set victory at the fives, leaving it on the shoulders of the ones, Angelina Bour and Genevieve Bane. Bour and Bane dropped a tight first set 23-21, but rallied back to force a third by taking the second set 21-19. In the decisive third set, it was a showing of pure dominance for the Gael duo, taking the set and match, 15-4.
The afternoon battle featured the Gaels and host Sacramento State Hornets. The Gaels made quick work of the Hornets on their home sand, winning each of the first three matches to lock up their program record 21st win this season. Those wins came from Reyes/Johnson, Glick/Nolan and Hannah Couch and Clarissa Klein. The Gaels and Hornets would split the final two matches, with Bour and Bane finishing off their perfect day to end the dual 4-1 in favor of the Gaels.
Saint Mary's will next be in action on Saturday, April 11 in Stockton, taking on the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners and the Pacific Tigers.
