BVB | Gaels Head to Stockton for Four Matches in Penultimate Week of the Regular Season
4/9/2026 9:59:00 AM | Women's Beach Volleyball
MORAGA, Calif. — The 2026 rendition of the Saint Mary's beach volleyball team made history this past week, winning its program-record 21st contest, and will look to further cement themselves atop the program record book with four more matches this weekend in Stockton. These four contests will be the Gaels final four away from home until the West Coast Conference Tournament in Santa Monica, taking place on April 23 and 24.
The Gaels had an uncharacteristic Wednesday, Friday schedule last week due to the Easter holiday, but it did not slow down their red-hot play, as Saint Mary's went 3-1, with their lone loss coming to top-ranked Stanford. The Gaels opened their week in Silicon Valley, besting UC Davis 3-2 before falling to the number one ranked Cardinal 4-1. The Gaels have now taken a point off of the Cardinal twice this season, the lone top-5 team that the Gaels have done this against. They then made their way to the state capital, where they defeated both Concordia Irvine 3-2, avenging this season's earlier loss to the Golden Eagles in Hawaii, and host Sacramento State 4-1. Three different Gael pairs went 3-1 for the week; Clarissa Klein//Hannah Couch at the twos, Isla Johnson/Bella Reyes at the fours and Hannah Glick and Barett Nolan at the fives, with Klein and Couch recording the lone win over the two-flight of top-ranked Stanford. Hannah Glick also broke the program's single-season individual wins record, besting the previous mark of 24 with her 25th and 26th wins of the campaign.
The field in Stockton will feature the host Tigers, as well as the Roadrunners of CSU Bakersfield, the Aggies of UC Davis and the Spartans of San Jose State. The Gaels are a combined 8-0 against these foes this season, with Bakersfield being the only team that they have yet to matchup with this season. The Gaels will see the Roadrunners first at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11. CSUB sits at 9-18 under third year head coach Andy Fulenwider and are led by sisters Kendall Kaelin and Vivi Kaelin who have split time between the #2 and #3 flights. Pacific will be the Gaels second matchup on day one, a team that has taken just one point off of the Gaels in four prior meetings. That contest will start at 4 p.m.
Day two will see the Gaels take on UC Davis at 2 p.m. and San Jose State at 4 p.m. Saint Mary's defeated the Aggies of UC Davis last week, 3-2 at Stanford. They have defeated the Aggies twice already this season. San Jose State will wrap up the four game week for the Gaels. The Gaels have defeated the Spartans three times this season, getting more and more dominant by the match, winning 3-2 on Feb. 27, 4-1 on Mar. 5 and 5-0 on Mar. 13.
