MORAGA, Calif. – Gracie Goewey, who earned 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year honors while playing for the Siena Saints, has committed to return home to the West Coast to join the Saint Mary's softball program, head coach Sonja Garnett announced on Monday.
Goewey joins the Gaels as a dynamic threat both in the circle and at the plate as Saint Mary's builds on three-straight West Coast Conference championships and a NCAA Regional Championship appearance this past May under Garnett's guidance.
"We are thrilled to add Gracie to our roster," Garnett said. "Her experience and accolades at Siena are a testament to the pitcher and athlete she is. Gracie will fill an important role on our pitching staff as well as bring a strong and powerful bat to our line up. Gracie's energy, leadership and academic focus are all in strong alignment with our program. We have been fortunate to retain our athletes, and are excited to add this crucial piece to our 2027 team."
In 2026, Goewey led the Saints with a 2.78 ERA and also batted .372 with seven home runs and nine doubles. Goewey threw a no-hitter on April 12 and rewrote Siena's record book by setting the program's single-season shutouts record with seven while tying the single-season strikeout mark with 164. The seven shutouts tied for eighth nationally.
Goewey is originally from Bend, Oregon, and was rated as one of the nation's Top 10 available pitchers in the transfer portal, according to 64 Analytics.
As a junior in 2026, Goewey was named NFCA Northeast Second Team All-Region, All-ECAC and the first MAAC Pitcher of the Year in program history. She was also consistently an academic honoree throughout her career at Siena, which included being named a Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2026 and garnering multiple MAAC academic accolades.
