Tanner Cunha joined the Saint Mary’s baseball coaching staff as the Director of Player Development in the fall of 2025.
Cunha was most recently an assistant coach for Sacramento City College where he held that role since August of 2022. With the Panthers, Cunha was the program’s primary high school recruiter and coordinated their strength and conditioning workouts. Additional coaching experience included two seasons with the Mankato Moondogs in the Northwoods League from 2022-23 as well as the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League during the summer of 2024. Cunha held Pitching Coach positions for both organizations, specializing in mechanics and pitch design while also working closely with the rest of the coaching staff on in-game pitching decisions.
Cunha maintains deep roots in the Sacramento area as he himself was a Sacramento City College graduate where he played for the Panthers for two seasons in 2018 and 2019. With the Panthers, Cunha helped them reach back-to-back Final Four State Championships. He finished his two seasons with a combined 32 appearances, 11 starts, 103.1 innings pitched and a 6-3 record. After graduating with his associate’s degree in Liberal Arts, Cunha transferred to Nevada where he spent two seasons with the Wolf Pack.
In 2021, Nevada went 22-9 in conference play and won the Mountain West Regular Season title. They went on to compete in the 2021 NCAA Regional but saw their postseason run come to an end after defeats to 17th ranked UC Irvine and North Dakota State. Cunha finished his Wolf Pack career with 17 appearances and graduated from Nevada with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Science. #39 Tanner Cunha | LHP | Nevada Wolf Pack (2021)
