Cross Country: Consistently ran among top four runners for the Gaels ... Best time was 24:29.4 at Bronco Invitational on Oct. 15 where he finished 20th ... Came in 26:31.1 in 46th at the West Coast Conference Championships on Oct. 28 ... Finished 156th in 32:54.8 at the NCAA West Regionals on Nov. 11.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2015-16)
Track: Competed in the 3,000m, 5,000m and 10,000m distances for Saint Mary's in his second season ... Opened his season at the Aggie Open on March 11 finishing in 8:53.43 in the 3,000m ... Ran the 5,000m in 14:58.37 at the Brutus Hamilton Challenge on April 23 but was able to shave of 10 seconds finishing in 14:48.11 for a new personal record and the victory at the Sacramento State Open on May 7 ... In his lone 5,000m race, finished in 15:45.33 at the Brutus Hamilton Challenge on April 23 ... Finished in 30:38.41 in the 10,000m at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on April 1.
Cross Country: In his first race of the season, finished the 8-kilometer Bronco Invitational in 25:16.1 for a season record for this distance ... In only his second race of the season, finished in 35:22.8 at the 10 km NCAA West Regionals for a season record at this distance.
AS A FRESHMAN (2014-15)
Track: Track season was shortened due to small injuries ... Raced once at the Johnny Mathis Invitational in the 5000m, running a time of 15:01.32
Cross Country: Saw continuous improvement throughout the XC season ... Spooner ran his best race at the Bronco Invitational with a time of 25:16 in the 8 km ... Pulled through at West Regionals by packing it up and finished the race with a time of 32:12.9.
PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S: Josh showed a lot of promise this Track season when he improved his lifetime best from 10:06 down to 9:44.50 in the 3200 meter event.
Personal: Spooner came to Saint Mary's because of the stand out academic programs offered and the opportunity to compete at a Division 1 level ... Later in life, he wants to be a part of a sustainable movement to help protect the planet ... He enjoys reading on his off time and loves all types of animals.
