Saint Mary's earned multiple singles and doubles wins on the second day of the Cal Winter Invite.
BERKELEY, Calif. — The Gaels had a strong second day during the Cal Winter Invite on Saturday as they picked up four wins in their singles matches over Fresno State and three wins over Cal Poly in doubles play.
THE DRAW
Saint Mary's competed in six singles matches on the second day of the tournament and were able to collectively win four of the contests. Freshman Chloe Goyette earned a straight set win (6-0, 6-0) during her singles match against Bulldog Ella Husrefovic. Clementine Clement, Liesl Pieters, and Aubane Ville each played a hard-fought match to also pick up three wins of their own.
On the doubles courts, the Gaels defeated Cal Poly in all three of their matches. Hind Abdelouahid and Goyette faced off against Bhunu/Louie-Meadors and won decisively, 7-6(4). Clement and Ville teamed up to take down the Cal Poly Worsnop/Ackerman duo and collected a 6-3 win. Jordan Harris and Pieters rolled past the Mustangs Williams/Bouquet tandem to earn a 6-2 win.
