MORAGA, Calif. — Continuing to build on her stellar beginning to the 2019-20 season, Emily Codding was named this week's West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week for her performance from Sunday night's narrow defeat against Kansas.
Codding was the leading scorer and rebounder for Saint Mary's with 27 points and 12 rebounds, both representing career-bests. The double-double is her second-straight and her fourth of the season. She shot 12-16 from the floor and also stuffed the stat sheet with three assists, three blocks, and one steal. The Gaels led by as many as five points in the fourth quarter before falling to Kansas 86-81.
For the season, Codding ranks tied for fourth in scoring per game with 15.6 points per game, fifth with 8.2 rebounds per game, and sixth in field goal percentage at 54.8%.
Codding is the first Gaels women's basketball player to receive a player of the week award during the season, with the last recipient coming on March 4, 2019 when Megan McKay took home the honors.
The Gaels will remain on the road this upcoming weekend as they participate in the UCF Tournament on December 20-21, first taking on the hosts, UCF, on December 20 at 11:30 A.M. PST.
