WTEN | Gaels Travel South to Face UC Santa Barbara

Coming off a 5-0 win, Saint Mary's will head down south for a match against the Gauchos on Saturday.
MORAGA, Calif. — Coming off their first win of the season, the Saint Mary's women's tennis team (1-3) will travel down south to take on UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Feb. 9.
ABOUT THE GAELS
After falling 5-2 against Oregon, the Gaels toughed out an impressive 5-0 win in their last matchup versus Fresno State on the road this past weekend. The doubles duo Jordan Harris and Aubane Ville picked up the first win for Saint Mary's as they faced off against Ellis/Hummel and won decisively, 6-3. Clementine Clement and Chloe Goyette were also able to clinch a 6-4 win over their opponents.
In singles action, Mariia Kozyreva continues to perform at a high level for the Gaels as she won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3 on the No. 1 court. Clement and Goyette also picked up wins in their respective courts while Ville and Hind Abdelouahid went unfinished in both of their contests.
On Monday, Clement was named WCC Women's Singles Player of the Week with her two wins over the weekend in the No. 2 singles slot.

The Gauchos (1-1) played their first two matchups of the season last weekend as they faced Florida and Mississippi State at the ITA Kick Off. During the contests, UC Santa Barbara fell 2-4 against No. 11 Florida, but were able to pick up a 4-3 win over Mississippi State.
Elizaveta Volodko has led the Gauchos in singles play as she currently holds a 5-4 record in the No. 1 singles slot. On doubles courts, Anastasia Goncharova and Volodko are 4-0 overall and have yet to give up a match to their opponents.
