MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's women's tennis team (0-2) will play two matchups this week as they will travel to Sacramento to take on the Hornets on Tuesday at 2 p.m. before heading to Davis to face off against the Aggies on Thursday with a 1:30 p.m. start time.
More information can be found on the Gaels' schedule page.
The Gaels will look to pick up their first victory of the season as they fell to No. 19 USC and No. 4 UCLA in their first matches of the season last week. SMC put up a hard fight against the ranked teams as the Gaels kept close matches throughout both contests. Against the Trojans, doubles tandem Lene Mari Hovda and Gabriela Tevez nearly earned the win but were narrowly defeated 7-5 while Chloe Goyette and Jordan Harris were locked up 6-6 in their match before it was called.
SACRAMENTO STATE
Sacramento State (0-4) has had a rough start to their season as they have dropped their first four contests of the year. In their thrilling home opener, they managed to pick up three singles wins as well as a victory on doubles courts but it was not enough to overcome Drake as they ultimately dropped the 4-3 decision. The team is led by Paige Alter who owns a 3-1 record as the No. 5 seed.
UC DAVIS
The Aggies hold a 4-2 overall record so far this year as they are coming off a 6-1 loss to Long Beach State which snapped their three-game winning streak. Sara Tsukamoto has recorded the most wins on the team for UC Davis as she is 8-6 overall as the No. 1 singles seed while Yana Gurevich is close behind with a 7-7 record. In doubles, Tsukamoto and Lauren Ko are 8-3 overall with a 3-0 record as the top doubles duo.
