SB | Saint Mary's Takes Win Against UCSB Before the Rain

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Saint Mary's (7-16) defeated UC Santa Barbara in a 6-2 decision in the Silicon Valley Classic II for their seventh victory of the season.
In their second contest of the day, the Gaels led St. Francis 4-1 before the contest was called due to weather.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gaels immediately took the lead against the Gauchos as they tallied five runs in the first inning. During the big inning, Maddie Gallagher singled to left field to score Jayda Alaan before Kenedi Lopes nailed a single of her own and Halle Sullivan responded with a double to score Gallagher. Julia McCormack would then smack her sixth homerun of the season to score both Lopes and Sullivan for a three-run RBI.
McCormack would then go onto notch her second homer of the contest in the top of the fourth to secure the 6-2 lead over UC Santa Barbara. The junior led the team on the day as she went 2-for-3 with four RBI's and two runs. Sullivan, Lopes, and Gallagher each collected singles in the contest to round out the Gaels' six total hits.
In the circle, Kayla Scott earned her third win of the year as she pitched in all seven innings while tallying four strikeouts and only allowing two runs from the Gauchos. Scott did not give up any walks in the matchup while facing 28 batters.
