SB | SMC to Host Oregon, Compete in Cal Poly Tournament

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (7-17) will host Oregon on Wednesday for a midweek matchup at 2 p.m. before traveling to San Luis Obispo, Calif. On Friday for the two-day Cal Poly Tournament. 

The Gaels will play a doubleheader on Friday against Notre Dame and Cal Poly with the first contest beginning at 10 a.m. On Saturday, Saint Mary's will face off against the same teams, respectively, in a doubleheader and first pitch for the first game will start at 12:30 p.m. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels competed in the Silicon Valley Classic II last week where they picked up one victory while also leading Saint Francis 4-1 before the contest was ultimately called due to weather. In their 6-2 win over UC Santa Barbara, Julia McCormack launched two home runs as she went 2-for-3 while posting four RBI's to lead the team. Four other Gaels collected hits in the win including Halle Sullivan who nailed an RBI double to center field. In the circle, Kayla Scott collected her third win of the season after pitching in all seven innings while tallying four strikeouts. Maddie Gallagher led the team during the classic as she went 8-for-12 across four games and reached base safely 11 times. Gallagher now leads the team in batting average (.358), OPS (.940), hits (24) and slugging percentage (.537). 

ABOUT OREGON
The Ducks own a 21-2 overall record so far this season as they are on a five-game winning streak since dropping their first two contests of the year to Louisville and No. 15 Oklahoma State on Feb. 29. Haley Cruse currently holds the best bat of the team as she owns a .468 batting average and a .517 on base percentage while tallying 36 hits, 30 runs and making all 14 of her 14 stolen base attempts. Rachel Cid has also been a key component from the box as she has collected 26 hits with 25 of those being RBI's and has posted six homers to lead the team. Brooke Yanez leads the Ducks in the circle as she owns an 8-1 record with a 1.73 ERA with a 0.94 WHIP while striking out 87 batters in 56.2 total innings pitched.

ABOUT NOTRE DAME
The Irish hold a 12-9 posting this season as they most recently were swept by North Carolina State in their last series. Notre Dame is led by Abby Sweet who leads the team with a .364 batting average and has recorded 24 hits including two home runs, eight doubles and a triple while also tallying 21 RBI's. On the rubber, Alexis Holloway holds a 7-6 overall record to lead the team while owning a 1.16 ERA in 78.2 innings pitched and has tallied 68 punchouts so far this season.

ABOUT CAL POLY
The Mustangs (10-13) have not won a contest in their previous seven games as their last victory was a 12-2 decision over Illinois on Feb. 27. Hailey Martin and Shelby Jeffries have each recorded 21 hits so far this season while Jeffries has posted three homers, five doubles and a triple and has tallied 16 RBI's to lead the team. Krystyna Allman leads the team from the circle as she owns a 6-3 record with a 3.06 ERA after pitching 61.2 total innings and has tallied 54 strikeouts.
