WBB | Holland Reaches 1,000-point Milestone
2/9/2021 9:10:00 AM | Women's Basketball
MORAGA, Calif. — There aren't many student-athletes who have achieved what Madeline Holland achieved during the Gaels most recent home stand. Wrapping up the month of January, the senior out of Burlingame joined an exclusive club of Saint Mary's greats by joining the 1,000-point club, becoming the 24th in Saint Mary's history to reach this milestone.
Holland has been a fantastic scorer since her first game as a Gael, and her point total has continued to climb with each week of hoops. Holland has averaged above 11 points per game in each of the last two seasons, and has currently put up at least 10 points in the last eight games, the second-longest streak of her career (14 games in a row last season). Holland is the owner of a career-best 33 point game (five points off the program record) on December 30, 2019 at Santa Clara. On 55 different occasions during her career, Holland has scored at least ten points.
Holland reached the 1,000-point plateau on January 23 at home against LMU, when she knocked down a three-pointer in the third quarter, helping erase a deficit as Saint Mary's went on to beat the Lions. Part of what has helped Holland reached this milestone is her efficiency at the free throw line, where she actively ranks seventh in program history in free throw percentage (82.5%). She is also just nine three-pointers made away from entering the top-ten in program history.
Holland and the Gaels close out the 2020-21 home portion of their schedule this week when they host San Diego on Thursday night at BYU on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day.
